The original proprietors of the Hotel Villa Cheta Elite built the structure as a personal summer holiday accommodation and in the customary southern Italian tradition, would often invite nobility for a festive sampling of exquisite Mediterranean cuisine, accompanied by top local Italian wines, all lovingly and sumptuously prepared and served to the delight of its appreciative guests.
This tradition of hospitality has been passed down through the years and eventually Villa Cheta became a first class hotel for all to experience. Recently renovated, the Basilicata accommodation still retains all the warm family atmosphere of a classic Italian villa. Behind its rose and cream-coloured facade, the interior is lavishly furnished and adorned with period pieces and antiques in art nouveau styled glass, chintz and lace.
