Built in neo-classical style in the 1870s, the Hotel San Michele was officially opened in 1904 and quickly became the haunt of both artists and nobility with such illustrious guests including the Queen of Sweden and the Kaiser, seeking peace away from the busy mainland.
Just down the road from Axel Munthe’s villa, the lavish holiday hotel's furnishings recall the ambiance of yesteryear, such as exquisite lounges in Louis XVI style, that imprint their mark on this Capri hotel. For a modern edge, the accommodation also boasts the island’s largest and sunniest swimming pool.

Hotel San Michele has 62 rooms, amongst them the Comfort, with mountain and park views dominated by the 1000 year old ruins of the Barbarossa Castle, or the sea view Vista Mare, as well as Deluxe rooms with balcony or terrace overlooking the Gulf. Three themed suites, the Diamonte, Vesuvio and Faraglioni, top off this Capri hotel’s selection.
